Update: I'm posting this message again today as Deadline has confirmed that Sam Raimi has, in fact, fully signed and committed to direct Oz: The Great and Powerful. Raimi ahead and Disney hopes that this pic is a global hit like the billion-dollar - grossing Alice In Wonderland, but the script first before override to take further steps forward with the project . Robert Downey Jr, who is reportedly playing the wizard in this origin story, is not[ entirely] fixed yet , but they develop it for him. The movie is going to happen, Deadline says, so get ready for Raimi version of Oz in the coming years! Original story follows.
